Ocracoke will have high surf and dangerous swimming conditions this week due to the storm. There's a high risk for rip currents. Please be careful -- the safest place to swim is at the lifeguard beach. They're on duty 9–5 every day.

The Ocracoke Friends of the Library Book Sale continues throughout the month whenever the library is open: Monday–Friday 3–7pm (3–8pm on Wednesday) and Saturday 9am–1pm.

1pm: Museum Tour @ OPS. Learn about Ocracoke history and culture with a tour of the exhibits. FREE. 

2pm: Summer Reading Program @ Ocracoke Library Free! All are welcome to join the Libraries Rock Summer Reading  Program events. This week: Rockin' Out with Kate McNally. Fun for all ages.

3pm: NPS Barrier Islands More info @ NPS Visitor Center

5pm: Complimentary beer and cheese tasting @ Zillie's! There will be at least five beers from Unibroue Brewing of Canada for sampling along with some cheese pairings – the Unibroue rep will be pouring until 7 pm.

6pm: Live Music! Dave Pollard @ Jolly Roger

8pm: A Tale of Blackbeard @ the Ocracoke School gym. Call (252) 921-0260 to reserve tickets. Act fast! it's a popular sell-out show. Singing, dancing, and swordfighting pirates woo talented village girls on the eve of Blackbeard's final battle at Ocracoke! 6pm: Coloring Rocks @ Ocracoke Library! All ages are welcome to come to the library for coloring night, 6–7pm. 

6pm: Live Music! Edgar Scrubbs @ Jolly Roger

8pm: Live Music! Coyote Plus One! The Coyote Music Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).

1:45pm: Ocracoke Lighthouse open. You can go in, but not up!

2pm: Silent & Live Auction Fundraiser @ Books to Be Red lawn. Lots of great donations from local artists and businesses! Proceeds will benefit Shirley Schoelkopf, who is battling lung cancer and needs an oxygen machine to return home to Ocracoke.
