Ferries, Roads, Bridges
The Hatteras ferry crossing is FREE and takes about 1 hour.
If you're making a daytrip to Ocracoke, please plan to arrive at the Hatteras ferry landing as early as possible for the first-come, first-served ferry. Be an early bird and you won't wait in line! The busiest spring, summer, and fall daytripping days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You can avoid a long wait by arriving at the ferry before 9am, or visiting Ocracoke on Monday, Friday, and/or the weekend.
The schedule can be subject to change due to weather conditions and traffic. It's always a good idea to call ahead at (252)-986-2353.
From January 1, 2017 through April 10, 2017, the Hatteras-Ocracoke daily schedule is as follows:
- Departures from Hatteras: 5 a.m., 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Noon, 1pm, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, (no 7pm) 8, 9, (no 10pm), 11, and Midnight.
- Departures from Ocracoke: 4:30am, (no 5;30am), 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30pm, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, (no 8:30pm), 9:30, 10:30, (no 11:30pm), 12:30am.
