If you're planning a visit during the winter, check out the Who's Open page so you'll know where you can eat, sleep, shop, and play. Even with limited options for ways to spend your money, Ocracoke is a great getaway. The best part of a winter visit is the great outdoors. The winter beach is amazing. Springer's Point and the NPS Nature trail never disappoint. Less is more around these parts.

Monday, January 1st:

Happy New Year!

2pm: Polar Plunge @ the Airport Beach/Ramp 70. This is a big maybe. it's cold out there.

Tuesday, January 2nd:

It's cold. Stay warm.

Wednesday, January 3rd:

Brrrr! We don't usually do weather reports on the Current, but this week is just newsworthy cold! Wednesday is the only day this week that temps will rise into the 40's and of course, that means rain. Most of the week, the temps will hover right around freezing, and it will get windier and colder again for Thursday and Friday. Frozen pipes, anyone?

Thursday, January 4th:

7pm: OVFD meeting @ the Fire Hall. Our OVFD firefighters rock! And you can be one of them – they are always in need of more help. They meet every other Thursday at 7pm. Come out to be a part of this vital organization.

Friday, January 5th:

Coldest day yet.

Saturday, January 6th:

9:30am: Family Storytime @ Ocracoke Library. Volunteers who have been trained in Motheread/Fatheread through the Transformation Zone Grant (now Hyde Coalition for Children) will be leading these story times. All are welcome.

1pm: Memorial Service for Merle Davis @ Community Center

6pm: Live music! Martin & Friends @ Ocracoke Oyster Company

Sunday, January 7th:

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).

Looking ahead....

The 2018 OPS Through Your Eyes art exhibit and auction is coming up fast (on Saturday, January 27th)! Be sure to get one of our little canvases so you can create your masterpiece. If you need a canvas, call the museum and they will bring/send one to you! 252-928-7375.
