Check out the island happenings this week!

Tuesday, November 4, 2014 is Election Day! Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.  On Ocracoke, we vote at the new Fire Hall. See you there!

On Thursday, the Ocracoke Planning Advisory Board will meet at 5:30pm. They are meeting this week, instead of next week (they usually meet the 2nd Thursday of the month.) All are welcome!

Friday morning Ocracoke School will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 8:30am. All are welcome to join the students and staff at the school flag circle.

Friday night is your last chance to eat dinner at the Back Porch until spring. They will close at 9pm Friday for the season. They’re open this week 5-9pm for dinner.

The AA Jamboree starts Friday night. (Thanks for the reminder in the comments, Jason!) I wrote an article last year. about the Jamboree's long history on Ocracoke. 

Saturday is the annual United Methodist Women’s Fall Bazaar and Silent Auction at the Methodist Church Rec Hall! There's lunch (soup and bake sale) starting at 11am, and lots of great items for auction! All are welcome! Come out and support the Methodist Women who do great things for Ocracoke and the world beyond! 

Saturday is also Fish Fry day @ Smacnally's to benefit Ocracoke School athletics. $10 per plate. Fresh flounder, cole slaw, hush puppies, baked beans, and a drink. Live music will also be performed by Aaron caswell and Jackie willis from 1:30 – 3:00pm. Please come out and support Ocracoke Athletics. Fear the Pod!

OOPS -- this is postponed until NEXT weekend (Nov. 15th): Saturday night is Kids Movie Night at Deepwater Theater. 6pm! Popcorn, drink, and candy for a $5 donation. Proceeds benefit Ocracoke Child Care.

Sunday will be the last day of the season for breakfast and baked goods at Graceful Bakery, and the last day of the season for salsa cheese eggs (and everything else) at the Pony Island Restaurant, and the last day of the season for beer and grub at Howard’s Pub.

On Sunday afternoon, you can do a little special shopping at the Berkley Manor. Representatives from Pampered Chef, 31, Scentsy, Origami Owl, Cookie Lee, and more! There'll be refreshments, too!
