Events this week include the only home cross country race of the season!

TODAY!

Go Dolphins! Come out at 4:30pm to cheer on the Varsity Lady Dolphins in their volleyball match against the Columbia Wildcats. Following the match will be the Senior Night Ceremony for volleyball and cross country Dolphins. Congratulations to seniors Katie O'Neal, Lucy O'Neal, Abby Morris, and Samantha Styron!

Hyde County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening at 6pm in the Ocracoke School Commons. Click here for the agenda and packets.

Tuesday:

Home volleyball game at 4pm: the Lady Dolphins will take on Plymouth! Fear the Pod! 

At the same time Tuesday, our Cross Country Dolphins will race on their home turf. Leave 'em in the sand, kids! Tuesday at 4pm at South Point Road, Ocracoke – the Coastal 10 throwdown! Come watch the Ocracoke Dolphins, defending Coastal 10 and Region 1 champions, take on Manteo, Perquimmans, Camden and Hatteras! It's your only chance to see our runners at home. Come cheer them on! Coach Kitty Mitchell could use some score table volunteers, so let her know if you can help.

Wednesday:

Just in time to put you in the mood for Halloween…. it's the Blood Moon! It will be visible on Ocracoke in the early morning hours. Get up early or stay up all night to see this lunar phenomenon! More info here.

Ocracoke School is participating in International Walk to School Day! Students and staff will be celebrating that Ocracoke is a safe place to walk or bike to school, and raising awareness about the need for safe routes to school and the good exercise that walking or biking is for kids. At 7pm, the Ocracoke Civic and Business Association will meet in the Ocracoke School commons. All are welcome! 

Thursday:

More volleyball! Come out to cheer on the Lady Dolphins when they match up against Manteo HS. The match starts at 4pm. Go Dolphins!

Roxy's Antiques is new to Ocracoke (at Spencer's Market) and owners Sue Dayton and David Mickey are holding an open house on Thursday to meet everyone! They're serving wine and cheese, and stoppers-by will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate. Meet and greet hours are 5 – 8pm.

Ocracoke Planning Advisory Board will meet Thursday at 5:30pm in the Ocracoke School commons.

Friday:

The Kingdom on Ocracoke event begins Friday and extends through Saturday! More info here.

Saturday:

Multi-family yard sale, 9am – 3pm, at the corner of Howard Street and Lawton Lane.

Beach Sweep!!! You've cleaned up the village, now let's pitch in and pick up the litter on our beautiful beaches! Meet Howard Bennink, who's been organizing this event for decades, at 10am at the lifeguard beach parking lot. He'll give you bags, gloves, and data cards. The annual Ocracoke Beach Sweep is part of the annual North Carolina Big Sweep dedicated to keeping the state's waterways clean.

Also on Saturday is the OVFD Fire Prevention Week Open House! See the fire trucks, squirt the big hose, learn about how you can prevent fires! Informative fun for the whole family, 2 – 4pm at the Fire Hall. More info here.
