Ocracoke Library will hold several special winter events.

Tuesday January 14 7:00 PM An Evening at the Library Celebrates a Night in Alaska, Since it’s cold outside come warm up by seeing and hearing about  a much colder place: Alaska. See great photos and hear Ocracokers' experiences living in and visiting the 49th state.  Alaskan specialties such as salmon and desserts will be part of the presentation.

Wednesday January 15 6:30 PM  The Ocracoke Book Club will discuss the award winning Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand.  From the author: "Eight years ago, an old man told me a story that took my breath away. His name was Louie Zamperini, and from the day I first spoke to him, his almost incomprehensibly dramatic life was my obsession. It is the story of Louie Zamperini--a juvenile delinquent-turned-Olympic runner-turned-Army hero."

Tuesday January 28 7:00 PM  An Evening at the Library Presents Lifelong Learning:  How to continue your education and not have to get off the island to do so.  Ever have dream of taking a world history class at Princeton or learn to play the guitar by a professor of the Berklee College of Music? These two classes and many more are free and available online. Come learn what resources are available and get tips on how to time-manage these classes.
