Songs of Joy and Peace

The Ocracoke Community Christmas Concert is Thursday, December 12th!

Join your friends and neighbors at the Community Center at 7pm for some holiday cheer!

Songs of Joy and Peace

Performers young and old will be performing songs, dances, and recitations to help us all welcome the Christmas season.

This year's line-up includes: The OUMC Children's Choir, Jamie Carter, Gary Mitchell, David Tweedie, Desiree Ricker, Ivey Belch, Hannah Belch, Hunter Belch, April Trueblood, Robert Raborn, Rob Temple, Crystal Canterbury, Jenny Starr, Angie Todd, Leslie Gilbert, Trisha Davis, Gretchen Stern, Sundae Horn, and the fabulous Ocracoke Dance Students!

Ocracoke's 2nd grade class will be holding a Bake Sale to raise money for their classroom. They'll also be donating 1/2 of their proceeds to relief for the Philippines.

Caroline Temple and Cecelia Carter will also be raising money for the Philippines. They're going to serve water for a donation, in a reminder to us that fresh, drinkable, plentiful water shouldn't be taken for granted. For a donation of $10 or more, you can take home a handmade paper "paról" – a traditional Filipino Christmas decoration, which represents the Star of Bethlehem and symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. The girls have been busy crafting paróls all week.

Admission to the concert is a non-perishable food item for the Hatteras Island Food Pantry. Christmas is a time for sharing, and the Christmas Concert gives you ample opportunity to remember those in need.

Thanks to the Ocracoke Civic and Business Association for sponsoring the concert again this year!

If you need more incentive to come out to the show heedless of the wind and weather, just read one of these Current articles from last year:
