Feeling Festive

I watched a duel, was ringside at a flea circus, and witnessed a puppet parade, all before lunch.

The umbrellas festival goers tucked into backpacks will surely be appreciated as parasols as the cloudless sky heats up the Ocrafolk Festival. The shaded beer and wine garden--new this year!--might be a handy escape from the heat, too.

While many attendees are content to focus on the music, the festival rewards meandering. I can only go a few feet before running into someone to chat with, stopping to smell the soap, or finding myself drawn off course by the scent of Thai food. I learned that Debbie Wells's new venture is making bars of pure cacao. Put it in my mouth.

Cassie and Maggie MacDonald stopped everyone's breath at the Celtic Jam on Friday night, said Ken DeBarth.

Phil Kelly or Jacob Johnson? Both are performing at 3 p.m. Saturday, and a friend was struggling with the decision. He knew he'd be at the Live Oak Stage at 2 p.m. for Caravan of Thieves, however. As will I.

The festival is still free, and a $15 button makes it look like you want it to continue.
