Hyde County issued this public advisory about Tropical Storm Andrea:

Tropical Storm Andrea is forecast to continue to move northeast out of the Gulf of Mexico, across Florida, and then along Coastal Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Hyde County and other parts of eastern North Carolina.

Hyde County is expected to receive a minor impact from Tropical Storm Andrea. Gale force winds should start affecting the area early Friday morning through Friday evening. A few small tree limbs could be knocked down with the potential for minor damage and an isolated power outage.Tropical Storm Andrea has resulted in isolated tornadoes in Florida, and Hyde County is most at risk for isolated tornadoes early Friday morning. Periods of heavy rainfall will begin Thursday afternoon. The total rainfall forecasted for the next 3 days is 2-4 inches. Minor coastal flooding may occur along the Pamlico Sound from Swan Quarter to Engelhard, as well as low-lying poor drainage areas.

Swimmers should stay out of the water on Friday due to rough surf conditions and an increased risk of rip currents.

If you must travel in this weather, do not drive through standing or moving water on roads.

If you are using the NC Ferry System please be aware that if winds exceed 40 MPH sustained, sound class ferry service may be suspended. Dredging on the Hatteras Ferry Channel will be temporarily suspended and will continue once the storm passes. Hyde County Schools will have an early release on Friday June 7th as it is the final day of school.

Hyde County Government offices will be closed Friday June 7th with the exception of the Clerk of Courts office, which will remain open.
