Cedar Island and Swan Quarter Ferries Begin Summer Schedule on May 21

Warmer weather means increased travel demands for the N.C. Department of Transportation ferries.

To accommodate that demand, the routes between Ocracoke and both Cedar Island and Swan Quarter go to their summer schedule beginning Tuesday, May 21. That number of trips between Cedar Island and Ocracoke increases from four to six a day in each direction, and the service between Swan Quarter and Ocracoke doubles to four daily trips each way.

The summer schedule will remain in effect until Sept. 30:

Cedar Island-Ocracoke route:

  • Departing Cedar Island at 7 a.m., 10, 11:30, 1 p.m., 4 and 5:30; and
  • Departing Ocracoke at 7:30 a.m., 10, 1 p.m., 3, 4:30 and 8.

 

Swan Quarter-Ocracoke route:

  • Departing Swan Quarter at 7 a.m., 10, 1 p.m. and 4:30; and
  • Departing Ocracoke at 6:30 a.m., 9:30, 12:45 p.m. and 4.

 

The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry route went to its summer schedule earlier this month, and will add more daily trips on May 21as well. The Currituck-Knotts Island ferry makes its switch in early June.
