Ocrafolk Festival Looking for Fine Art Donations for Auction

Press Release

The Ocrafolk Festival is looking for art donations for its fundraising auction during the annual festival June 7 to 9.

A much-anticipated event, the art auction this year will focus on local artists—Ocracoke and the OBX-- and will be held Friday night, June 7th, in the newly refurbished Berkley Center.

Dolores Gilbert of Ocracoke is coordinating the auction.

“We want to recognize local island fine artists and crafters,” she says about the focus of the auction.

Participating artists will receive several perks from the festival. Complimentary desserts will be offered to guests and a cash wine/beer bar will be available during the preview, 6:30-7:30. The auction will start at 7:30 p.m. Artwork offered will be previewed on the festival website at www.ocrafolkfest.org. Interested artists should contact Gilbert at 202-288-9592, or, dsgilbert13@gmail.com.

Prior to the auction, the Ocrafolk Festival Friday Feed will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on the grounds of Books to be Red, along School Road. This year, the community dinner will be catered by a local restaurant (to be determined) and admission will be charged.

New and veteran performers are being selected for concerts all three days and will be announced soon.

Now in its 14th year, the Ocrafolk Festival is a weekend of music, storytelling and arts on Ocracoke Island, NC.

The event is presented by Ocracoke Alive, Inc., a community non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the Ocracoke Island community by encouraging and sponsoring cultural, artistic, educational, and environmental activities including the production of plays, musicals, musical events, exhibits, schools, workshops, and festivals.
