Maxine Mason

Maxine was born on August 8, 1935, to the late Leonard Mac Williams and the late Mary Elizabeth Gaskins.  For close to 50 years she was happily married to the late Charles Romaine Mason, Sr.  Maxine graduated from Ocracoke School in 1953 and worked her entire life.  She retired from the NC Ferry Division in March 2003 after 30+ years of service.

Maxine was a generous and caring woman.  She had a wonderful, hearty laugh that was never mistaken and unforgettable. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all.

Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Charles R. Mason, JR and Rodney W. Mason and wife Rhonda; four grandchildren, Jenny, Shane, Carla and Chante Mason; great grandson Dallas Mason; three sisters, Linda Gaskill, Judy Garrish and the late Louise O’Neal and one brother Lewis Tolleson.

A celebration of life will be held at Ocracoke Assembly of God, Friday March 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Ivey Belch. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery.  There will be food and refreshments at the fellowship Hall of the Ocracoke Assembly of God following the service. Friends may join the family at the church Thursday from 6:00 pm. to 9:00 p.m. for a time of visitation. We all love our “A.”
