It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Deck your halls for the annual Holiday Decorating Contest!

Trim your trees and turn on your lights for the judging on December 19th from 6 – 8 p.m.

Teresa O'Neal is organizing the contest, which is sponsored by Ocracoke Civic and Business Association. She'll find all four visitors on the island on December 19th and drive them around to see ALL the lights. She's careful not to sway the judges or let on where her decorating skills have been put to use.

The judges will award prizes in four categories.

For local businesses there's just one prize: Best in Show. (Go big or go home.)

Your homeplace could win Best Theme, Most Traditional, or Most Original.

Each winner will receive two (2) prizes: a lovely yard sign (that Teresa will stealthily place so the winners will discover them on the morrow), and a year's worth of bragging rights.

Thanks to everyone who puts on a display and makes the island merry and bright!

(These photos are from Christmases of yore. Can't wait to see what the decorating elves do this year!)

Home of Dave Frum and Karen Lovejoy, this house can be seen clear across the harbor. They've won both Most Original AND Most Traditional (same lights, different years.)

The former Beach House B and B. Now that Warren and Carol have retired, will they still do Christmas lights? They're always an island favorite. They even got their picture in Our State magazine!
