Youth Advocates from Ocracoke School’s I SPEAK and TRU club in collaboration with community agencies host

4th annual Ocracoke Health Festival to provide basic health services and information to the community.

The public is invited to come out for the 4th annual Ocracoke TRU Health Festival on October 20th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Ocracoke Community Center.  The Ocracoke Students from I SPEAK (Island Students Promoting Empowerment among Kids) and TRU (Tobacco.Reality.Unfiltered.) are hosting this event to promote healthy living and provide medical screenings to members of the Ocracoke community.

The health fair, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Ocracoke Community Center. 

Services include Flu Vaccines*, Free Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Screening for the entire family, information on breast and cervical cancer, tobacco, skin care, car seat clinic, free giveaways and more!

Represented at the Ocracoke Health Festival will include over ten community health agencies including the Hyde County Health Department, The Outer Banks Hospital, Ocracoke Health Center, Hyde County Hotline, UNC Cancer Outreach, and the Beaufort/Hyde Partnership for Children.

*Flu shots will be offered at $26.00 and the flu mist will be offered at $31.00.  The Hyde County Health Department will bill Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid and TriCare insurance holders, so bring your insurance card with you.
