Grand Opening at Angie's Gym

The first people through the door at Angie's Gym were from Raleigh.

Unlike me, they weren't there to congratulate Angie and cadge some free lunch.  They wanted to work out.  Erin at The Cove had let them know about the new business.  Day memberships at the gym are $15.  Year-round memberships are the best deal, and one could argue that they get cheaper each day you use it, like a season ski pass.

Angie's Gym is the second gym on Ocracoke.  The island's most eligible bachelor confessed to rarely using the bowflex in his house, but said he frequented the gym behind the Boyette House that Jon Wynn opened for a few years in the late 1990s.  He, for one, plans to take advantage of the equipment Angie offers.

He complimented the chili made by Jamieson Wilson.  The dips were fantastic, too.

Ellipticals were the most requested machine, said Angie.  The ellipticals sit side by side with stationary bikes, in front of the treadmills, and face big windows topped by televisions tuned, for now, to the weather channel.  She plans to add a rowing machine and an upright bike in the near future.

If there is sufficient interest, a small spin class could happen "sooner rather than later," said Angie, with her characteristic smile.
