What a beautiful first day of spring!

It was pretty perfect here on Ocracoke. Here’s hoping this nice weather will last until the summer solstice and it won’t turn hot and humid a day sooner.

The Ocracoke dolphins baseball team has a game in Columbia, NC at 3 p.m. today. They love all their island fans, so if you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and cheer on the team. Go Dolphins! Can't be there? Listen to the live broadcast on WOVV 90.1 or online at www.wovv.org.

We’ll keep you posted about their next “home” game at Hatteras. (Ocracoke doesn’t have a ballfield for home games – not yet, anyway.)

And later tonight, there’ll be yet another night of Pub Quiz Trivia at Gaffer’s, hosted by Jocelyn and Jessica. Come out at 7 p.m. and bring your best game! It’s becoming more popular and more competitive every week!

The day we’ve all been waiting for is coming up…. It’s the School Plant Sale on Friday, beginning at 8 a.m. If you pre-ordered, please come and get your gorgeous plants. If you didn’t get your order in, stop by anyway to check out the extras. Ahhh, spring.

Saturday brings another annual good time – Spring Wellness Day at Deepwater Theater! This daylong event (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) includes free yoga, tai chi, meditation and alternative healthcare sessions. All are welcome to join the fun.

Come for some wellness and stay for the cocktails!! Beginning at 6:30 p.m., artists will be gathering to sip wine, snack on tasty hors d’oeuvres, and pick up a box at the Out of the Box party at Deepwater Theater. Sponsored by Ocracoke Alive, the party is a chance for the Ocrafolk Festival auction committee to thank past auction donors and invite old and new artists to contribute to this year’s fundraising auction. Sunday night is movie night at Ocracoke United Methodist Church. All are invited to the screening of “Wesley” at 7 p.m. This 2009 film is a biopic about John Wesley, the founder of the Methodism.

Looking ahead to next week, please mark your calendars for Tuesday night’s annual Friends of the Library membership meeting at 7 p.m, and Friday’s Ocracoke School Science Fair.
