Ocrafolk Festival Cancelled

Press Release
The Ocrafolk Festival 2020, scheduled for June 5-7, will be canceled for this year.

The Ocracoke Alive board met and determined that in the interest of public health and the financial stability of the Ocracoke Alive community non-profit, this year’s event on Ocracoke Island, NC would officially be called off.

“Many of our Ocrafolk Festival attendees are in the 60+ age category, placing them in the highest risk category for the coronavirus,” says Ocracoke Alive director David Tweedie. “We want to make sure that everyone stays healthy, and that we do our part to help control this health crisis, so that we can look forward to many future years of gathering under the live oaks for great performances.”

Fans who have already purchased Early Bird tickets for the festival will receive full refunds over the next two weeks, and sponsors for Ocrafolk Festival 2020 will be contacted about Ocracoke Alive either returning their donation or rolling it forward to Ocrafolk Festival 2021. Next year’s Ocrafolk Festival is scheduled for June 4-6, 2021.

In the event that public gatherings are again cleared for Saturday, June 6, 2020, Ocracoke Alive will consider hosting a free community concert that day.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for Ocracoke Alive sharing news from Ocracoke Island and the Ocrafolk Festival family on social media and at www.ocracokealive.org.
