This dashing rogue of a cat be the newest swab in Blackbeard's crew!

The winner of the first ever Ocracats "Blackbeard's Cat" Contest is Chester! When he's ashore, Chester is cared for by the Whiteheart family, Rusty, Michelle and Stella, of Winston-Salem, N.C.

But now he sails on the tall ship Adventure with Blackbeard Tom and the other fearsome feral feline freebooters! What a handsome fella! He'll be world famous around these parts when all the cool cats eye his pirate mug adornin' t-shirts at the Pirate Jamboree!

Chester's landlubber family will receive a t-shirt as a thanks for helping him send in his entry photo. Blackbeard's Cat tees will be available at the 2018 Pirate Jamboree held on Ocracoke Island from October 25-28th, 2018. All t-shirt and contest entry proceeds benefit Ocracats and will help feed and care for the island's feral cats and kittens.

Ocracoke is sponsoring another Spay/Neuter Clinic at the Fire Hall on October 2-4. Thursday will be pet day; rabies shots are available. Look for sign-up sheets at the post office or send an email to ocracats@gmail.com to get a pet kitty fixed or to alert Ocracats that you have feral cats in your neighborhood that need to be trapped and fixed.

Ocracats would like to thank all 80 cats who entered Blackbeard's Cat contest – it was a tough decision for the judges! Arrrggh!
