Double headers coming up this Saturday at the Ocracoke Community Park.

The Orioles hosted the Reds in action on April 21st with a strong four-inning shutout performance by Jacob Daniels, who also hit an in-the-park home run. Noah O'Neal also added an in-the-park homer and Landon Fuller finished the game with a walk-off homer in the fourth inning as the Orioles dominated in a 10-0 victory. Jacob was awarded the game ball for his performance on the mound along with his offensive effort.

Tuesday's away game was rained out against the Braves so the Orioles were back in action on the 28th of April with a home game against the Angels with Noah O'Neal as the starting pitcher. The Saturday home game was back and forth battle with the Angels taking a quick 5-run lead in the first inning on several errors and sloppy play. The O's rebounded with five of their own and the first inning ended in a tie. Nathan Contreras took the hill in the second and the Angels added three more for a 8–5 lead as the Orioles continued their defensive woes. The Ocracoke bats started to heat up as they managed to tie the score at eight. Finn Kattenburg took the mound and pitched well stifling the Angels and the home team took a 13–8 lead in the fifth on a strong line drive by Auggie Giagu, who was awarded the game ball for his key hit. The Angels added one more run in the sixth and Ocracoke held on for a 13–9 victory in this battle at Ocracoke Community Park.

The Orioles and Marlins are away for games this Wednesday in Buxton and both teams host double headers this upcoming Saturday at home with the games starting at noon. Come on out and grab one of Bob's burgers while supporting and  cheering on the teams at your community park!

The Marlins youth baseball team had two great games last week. The team gave Coach Jim a birthday present and our first win in Ocracoke on April 21st. In this fierce contest the Marlins won 2–1 and the game balls went to Malli Harrell and Petros Burleson in recognition of their first base-hits in a baseball game. Sadly we were rained out for a game on April 24th.

The Marlins came out strong at home on Ocracoke on Saturday, April 28th against the powerhouse Nationals. Members of the middle school baseball team helped us out in warm-ups and it paid off. As a team we hit better than ever before and made some outstanding plays in the field. The scoreboard didn’t go our way in this game, but we try to not pay attention to the score until the umpire tells us the game is over. Everyone had a great day and had great fun! The game ball was awarded to Charles Hodgson for his best-ever hitting performance.

Thanks to coaches Vince O'Neal (Orioles; 10-12 league) and Jim McClain (Marlins; 7-9 league) for these baseball reports!
