Go to the beach! And when you need a break from the sun and waves, check out all these fun things to do in the village! 

The National Park Service hosts interpretive programs on Ocracoke every week. Find that schedule here

Wonderful NPS volunteers and rangers open the Ocracoke Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.

Ocracoke Library wants your used books! Bring donations of books (just books, please, no magazines or movies) anytime during regular library hours: Monday–Friday, 3–7pm, and Saturday, 9am-1pm. The Annual Friends of the Library Used Book Sale will be Thursday, July 6th. 

Monday, June 19th:

1pm: OPS Museum Tour. Free! Today's guide is Julie Howard.

7pm: Island Trivia Night @ Gaffer's Sports Pub! This week's Trivia Night is a fundraiser for Ocracoke residents Derek Rogers-Gilliam and Callie Davisson. Derek sustained a serious spinal injury on June 12th while swimming at the beach on Ocracoke. Recovery will likely be a long road. Come out to support them and have some fun! It's only $2 to play, but all donations are welcome.

8pm: Pirate Show at Deepwater Theater! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for a fun, family-friendly analysis of the infamous character Blackbeard the Pirate. 7:30pm; doors open at 7. Read more about "Blackbeard: A Historical, Hysterical Account" here.

11am: Puppet Show @ Deepwater Theater! "Jack & Jill" one-man puppet show featuring hand-carved, folk-toy-inspired puppets and live music with Blashford Bro Puppet Co.! FREE and family-friendly! Sponsored by Ocracoke Library's Summer Reading Program. 

1pm: "Art and Artists on Ocracoke" Porch Talk with Ann Ehringhaus and Kitty Mitchell. Come to the OPS Museum with your children for a fun craft afternoon! 

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week's guest is April Trueblood of "Raygun Ruby." More info at www.coyotemusic.net 

Wednesday, June 21st:

9am–3pm: Makers Market on Silver Lake Local art, community offerings, located on the Wahab House lawn, next to Anchorage Inn. Parking at NPS lot.

10am: Arrgh! Free piratical program aboard the Skipjkack Wilma Lee with Capt. Rob and Fiddler Dave! 

1pm: Kids Create-a-Craft program @ OPS Museum. This week's theme is "Okra-Coke Lighthouse"!

6pm: Family Movie Night @ the Library. Kids under 10 need to bring a grown-up. Movie TBA. 

7pm: Live Music! Monjah Music @ Dajio, 7–10pm

8pm: Dingbatter's Guide to Ocracoke @ Deepwater Theater. This new comedy-skit show is the ultimate guide for Ocracoke visitors (and residents) of all ages! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for answers to all your burning questions. Admission. Doors open at 7:30pm.

8:30pm: Sing out! It's Karaoke Night @ Ocracoke Oyster Co.!

Thursday, June 22nd:

10am: Free program aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee! Learn about Navigation and Make Your Own Compass with Laura McClain.

10:30am: Porch Talk @ OPS Museum Storytelling with Donald Davis's storytelling workshop participants. Porch Talks are free, informal, and fun! 

3pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish & Lou Castro @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out to hear some amazing guitar playing, 3–6pm

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Summer wine tastings take place every Thursday and Friday at 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: Live music! Raygun Ruby, your favorite retro-80's band, plays 7-10pm @ Dajio!

10am: Free program aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee! Learn about the Anatomy of a Boat with Tom Pahl. Free and family-friendly!

11am: FREE fun program @ Ocracoke Library! Steve Sommers, the Amazing Teacher, will celebrate books as part of the Ocracoke Library's Summer Reading Program. Steve's a speaker. author, storyteller, and edutainer! All are welcome to this family-friendly event.

2pm: Memorial Service for Earl O'Neal @ Ocracoke Methodist Church. Food for the family may be brought to the Rec Hall after 12:30pm.
