The National Park Service hosts interpretive programs on Ocracoke every week. Find that schedule here

Wonderful NPS volunteers and rangers open the Ocracoke Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.

Monday, June 12th:

1pm: Monthly Ferry Division Public Meeting @ Community Center. All are welcome.

1pm: OPS Museum Tour. Free! Today's guide is Al Scarborough.

3pm: Summer Reading Program begins @ Ocracoke Library. Kids in rising grades K-8 can stop by the library and sign up for the 2017 Summer Reading Program starting Monday, June 12 during our regular public hours, 3-7pm! Fill out a form and grab your FUN Summer reading BINGO sheet, calendar of awesome activities, some bookmarks, and check out your first book of the SUMMER! Visitors welcome. 

8pm: Pirate Show at Deepwater Theater! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for a fun, family-friendly analysis of the infamous character Blackbeard the Pirate. 7:30pm; doors open at 7. Read more about "Blackbeard: A Historical, Hysterical Account" here.

Tuesday, June 13th: 

1pm: "The Art of Shelling" Porch Talk with Amy Howard. Come to the OPS Museum with your children for a fun craft afternoon! 

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week's guest is April Trueblood of "Raygun Ruby." More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Wednesday, June 14th:

9am–3pm: Makers Market on Silver Lake Local art, community offerings, located on the Wahab House lawn, next to Anchorage Inn. Parking at NPS lot. 

1pm: Springer's Point Clean-up Come help at a Work Day at Springer's Point! We will be picking up loose shell and bagging from the living shoreline and then planting native marsh grasses in the area that has silted in. Any help is most appreciated. Please spread the word as many hands make light work! Please wear a sun hat, clothes that can get wet and dirty, and shoes with closed toes that can get wet. Meet at the Preserve at 1pm.

1pm: Kids Create-a-Craft program @ OPS Museum. This week's theme is "Island Animals."

7pm: Live Music! Barefoot Wade @ Dajio and Barry Wells @ Oyster Co., both 7–10pm

7pm: Ocracoke Civic and Business Association Meeting @ the Community Center. Get the scoop and the agenda here.

8pm: Dingbatter's Guide to Ocracoke @ Deepwater Theater. This new comedy-skit show is the ultimate guide for Ocracoke visitors (and residents) of all ages! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for answers to all your burning questions. Admission. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Thursday, June 15th:

1pm: Porch Talk @ OPS Museum All are welcome to learn about the amazing history of the US Lifesaving Service with local historian Philip Howard. Porch Talks are free, informal, and fun! 

3pm: Summer League Baseball @ Ocracoke Community Park! The Outer Banks Daredevils (with Ocracoke's own Eli Straw!) vs. the Greenbriar Knights! Concessions available! Meet the players after the game at Gaffer's! Ocracoke Community Park & Youth Center will honor Karen Lovejoy who will be throwing out the first pitch Thursday at 3pm!

3pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish & Lou Castro @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out to hear some amazing guitar playing, 3–6pm

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Summer wine tastings take place every Thursday and Friday at 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: Live music! Raygun Ruby, your favorite retro-80's band, plays 7-10pm @ Dajio!

7pm: WOVV Women's Arm Wrestling Tournament! Ocracoke is a town that loves to dress up and put on a show. The Annual WOVV Women’s Arm Wrestling Tournament contestants never disappoint with their costumes and wrestler personas. This double-elimination tournament is as much about the spectacle as the strength, but the ladies will impress you with their powerful biceps and fierce determination. The winner gets a year’s worth of bragging rights! WOVV 90.1FM is Ocracoke’s own community-supported radio station. Find out more at wovv.org

Saturday, June 17th:  

6pm–Midnight: Fiesta Latina Dance @ Ocracoke Community Center: 6-10pm Mexican Food, 9pm-12am Dance, Cash Bar & Drinks, $5 cover after 9pm. Party! Fiesta!
