Arriving Ocracoke Fishermen to Enjoy Extra Ferry Runs

The Ocracoke Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament begins May 3, and arriving contestants and families will enjoy smooth sailing to their destination thanks to an enhanced ferry schedule between Hatteras and Ocracoke.

The N.C. Department of Transportation's Ferry Division has added extra departures to its Hatteras Inlet schedule. There will also be an unscheduled “shuttle” boat to help alleviate any significant traffic backups that occur during the day.

The one-day schedule for Wednesday, May 3, will be as follows:

  • From Hatteras: 5, 6:15, 7:20, 8:35, 9, 9:40, 10, 10:30, 10:55, and 11:20 a.m., noon, 12:20 12:50, 1:15, 1:40, 2:20, 2:40, 3:10, 3:35, 4, 5, 5:30, 5:45, 6:20, 6:45, 7:20, 7:50, 8:15, 9:15, 10:45 p.m., and midnight.
  • From Ocracoke: 5, 6:10, 7:25, 8:30, 9:45, 10:10, 10:50, 11:10 and 11:40 a.m., 12:05, 12:30, 1:10, 1:30, 2, 2:25, 2:50, 3:30, 3:50, 4:20, 4:45, 5:10, 6:10, 6:40, 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30, 10:30 p.m., and midnight.

“The Ocracoke Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament is a major spring event for Ocracoke residents and businesses,” said Ferry Division Interim Director Jed Dixon. “We want to do our part to make it a huge success.”
