Senior Night at the Community Park

Hurricanes started off quickly with 1 run in the first inning and 6 in the second. The runs were not indicative of the pitching staff as much as a series of errors allowed by the Dolphins defensive fielding squad. To make matters even worse the sticks were dead for the home team throughout the first three innings except for Sitterson who singled after Kalna and Doshier struck out looking and before Styron grounded out to the pitcher for the third out in the bottom of the second inning.
The bleeding didn’t stop in the third. Three up, three down for the Dolphins. Three more runs for the 'Canes.
A tourniquet finally arrived in the fifth inning. Dolphins gave up only 1 run and got a rally going in the bottom of the inning. Contreras walked. Styron walked. Dalgliesh/Boos singled (not clear on my stat sheet.) Ethan singled. Samick singled. Carson took one on the helmet for his team, and the home team managed to score 2 runs to avoid the shut out! Game over without playing the sixth inning because of 10-run mercy rule.
Next Game: Tuesday, April 4th Varsity Dolphins at Cape Hatteras JV.
Congratulations to the Class of 2017 Baseball and Track & Field Dolphins!
