Current Events Week of January 23rd

If there are home basketball games this week, I will post them ASAP.

All week long, FEMA and State Community Outreach in Hyde County will be on the island. Stop by the Community Center any day, Monday–Saturday, between 8am–5pm. Find out more here.

Monday, January 23rd:

I don't know of anything happening. Let me know if you do.

Tuesday, January 24th:

10am: Adult Ballet Class @ Deepwater Theater. Ocracoke School of Performing Arts will offer ballet class to adults of ALL experience levels! Classes are $10 for locals. So whether you're dusting of your dance shoes or coming out for your very first class, all are welcome. 

7–9pm: Coyote Music Den's Winter Jams every Tuesday through March. Bring your instrument and join in!

Wednesday, January 25th:

11:30am–1:30pm: Open House with NPS @ Ocracoke Community Center. Learn more about changes to ORV rules. More info here. 

4pm: Go Dolphins! Home middle school basketball game today, probably starting at 4pm.

Thursday, January 26th:

10am: Adult HipHop Class @ Deepwater Theater. Ocracoke School of Performing Arts will offer HipHop class to adults of ALL experience levels! Classes are $10 for locals. So whether you're dusting of your dance shoes or coming out for your very first class, all are welcome.

3:15pm: Open Batting Practice @ Ocracoke Community Park. All ages welcome! Fun and informal. 

Friday, January 27th:

3:15pm: Soccer Skills Challenge @ Ocracoke Community Park. Prizes for adults and kids! All are welcome! 

Saturday, January 28th:

5–7pm: "Ocracoke Through Your Eyes" Art Opening and Auction @ OPS. A wine-and-cheese reception and art opening is planned for Saturday, January 28th, from 5 – 7pm at the Museum. The artwork will be available through a silent auction during the reception. Allison will post photos of the canvases on the OPS Facebook page. You can see a selection there and even place your bid online! Read more about the event here. 

6pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish and Friends @ Ocracoke Oyster Company. 

 

And best of all.... a slower, quieter time on the island.
