Current Events Week of January 2–8

Happy New Year!

Well, Ocracoke is in full off-season mode..... check out our Who's Open? page to figure out where to eat, sleep, and play during the winter on Ocracoke.

If we hear of anything else happening this week, we'll add it. But sometimes it's nice to see an empty calendar.

Tuesday, January 3rd:

6pm: Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting. New year, new location! The meeting on Ocracoke will take place at the Ocracoke Community Center using electronic conferencing equipment. Find the agenda and more information here.

Wednesday, January 4th:

7pm: Trivia Night @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out and show off what you know! Only $2 to play, and all the proceeds go to a good cause! Nerdy winter fun at its best!

Looking ahead....

Starting January 10th: Coyote Music Den's Winter Jams every Tuesday, 7–9pm, beginning January 9th through March. Bring your instrument and join in!

Home Basketball games coming up....

The Annual "Ocracoke Through Your Eyes" Art Show at Ocracoke Preservation Society is scheduled for January 28, 2017. A wine-and-cheese reception and art opening is planned for Saturday, January 28th, from 5 – 7pm at the Museum. The artwork will be available through a silent auction during the reception. Amy will post photos of the canvases on the OPS Facebook page. You can see a selection there and even place your bid online! Read more about the event here

And best of all.... a slower, quieter time on the island.

Check out the Ocracoke Current calendar for more events and information! We're on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, too! Send info about any events we may have missed to ocracokecurrent@gmail.com. Current Events stories are updated as needed with more information, so check back!
