Cookies and Books!

The Library Cookie Swap will be Sunday, December 4, at 2pm.
Cookies and Books!

Sponsored by Ocracoke Friends of the Library, the annual Cookie Swap is a holiday favorite on Ocracoke. This year, the event will be hosted at the Ocracoke Coffee Company, across the street from our little library.

Why the change of venue? The Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the library, taking up all the space usually used for tables of cookies. Volunteers will open the library, and swappers are invited and encouraged to stroll across the street and do a little shopping after they get their goodies. The Book Fair has books and gifts for kids of all ages, and proceeds benefit the Ocracoke School library program.

As always, there will be pre-swap entertainment. This year, the Ocracoke School 4th and 5th grade classes will help us get into the holiday spirit! The swap will be accompanied by musical offerings from Julie Howard and Guitarras Mexicanas de Ocracoke.

Oh, the sweet smells of sugar, vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, oatmeal, sprinkles, gingerbread… all the visions of sugarplums dancing in your head! Sure do like those Christmas cookies, sugar!

All are welcome!

How it works:

Bring a dozen or more homemade cookies to share.

Take home an equal amount of assorted cookies made by other island bakers.

Please bring an extra container to collect your cookies.
