Obituary for Carl "Toad" Teeter

Carl Eugene "Toad" Teeter died peacefully in his sleep on August 16, 2016 in Port St. John, FL at the age of 67.

Carl is survived by his wife Mary (Godbout), son Chris, daughter-in-law Brooke of Olney, MD; son Kyle, daughter-in-law Amanda of Rockledge, FL; grandchildren Arianna, Nicholas, Vaughn, Brayden, Malachi, Carson and Marcelo; sister Linda and brother in-law Ward Garrish of Ocracoke, NC; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Iona (Williams) Teeter, baby daughter Melanie, and brother Wayne Teeter.

Carl was born on July 3, 1949 in Ocracoke. Carl was a Hyde County Deputy Sheriff on Ocracoke Island until he moved to Maryland in 1986. He worked briefly as security guard for Pan Am airlines before becoming a United States Marshal DEO stationed at the US Courthouse in Washington, DC. After his retirement from the US Marshal Service he was a Special Police Bailiff at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Rockville, MD until he moved to Florida.

One not to "retire" he continued to work part-time at Port Carnival as a security screener for the cruise line industry. Carl had a tremendous impact on everyone he met. He was always quick to greet people with a hello and he never met a stranger. We will miss seeing him, his smile and hearing his stories or quick-witted, funny one-liners.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11am, August 27th in Ocracoke, NC at the Ocracoke Assembly of God Church. Reception to follow.

There will also be a Celebration of Life open house held on September 10th, 1-4pm at Norbeck Grove Clubhouse, 18309 Wickham Road Olney, MD.

Both events are open to all who wish to help celebrate Carl's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org
