The Ocrafolk Festival is printing its own money!

Support the Festival by dining at your favorite island eatery!

OCRABUCKS!!! What's the deal? Here's the scoop on our new festival currency:

On Friday evening, the Ocrafolk Festival kicks off with a gathering of festival attendees and performers breaking bread together. We consider it a special part of the weekend... albeit not one without challenges when 500 people show up all at once wanting to feast! This gathering takes place on the grounds of the Ocracoke Preservation Society & the Berkley Manor (just before the Ocrafolk Festival Art Auction). This year, we invited local food vendors to set up booths offering small plates for "A Taste of Ocracoke."  In order to buy from a booth, you have to purchase "Ocrabucks" from Ocracoke Alive. (1 Ocrabuck = $1) We'll sell them to you right there!

On Saturday, Festival purchasers will be able to use "Ocrabucks" as well as cash at all food booths on the Festival grounds.

Throughout the weekend, some island restaurants will accept Ocrabucks through closing time (or midnight) on Monday, June 6th.

All the merchants who accept Ocrabucks will be reimbursed by the Ocrafolk Festival, and donate 10% back to keep the Festival going strong.

(Note: Ocrabucks are non-refundable, and you don't get change back when you use them. If you don't spend all of yours, consider them souvenir bookmarks, or a memento suitable for framing. How many Ocrabucks would it take to wallpaper your bathroom? The possibilities are endless.)
