Proposal Approved for Fireworks on Ocracoke

Board of Commissioners will vote on funding on January 4th.

Fireworks may be coming back to Ocracoke! The Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board unanimously voted to recommend that the Hyde County Board of Commissioners designate $20,000.00 from Ocracoke occupancy tax funds to allow fireworks on Ocracoke July 3, 2016.

If approved, they will take place at National Park Service Docks and should be visible around Silver Lake and the village. Pyrotecnico, Inc. is company that will be coming to Ocracoke to perform the fireworks and is the same company that has been performing the fireworks in Avon. Pyrotecnico has been in business for 115 years. 

This month's Board of Commissioners meeting is Monday, January 4 at 6pm in the Ocracoke School commons.
