911 House Signs Still Available from OVFD

911 House Signs Still Available from OVFD

OVFD First Responders and Hyde County EMS appreciate being able to quickly locate you if you have a health emergency.

They respond to 911 calls and are working to reduce response time. This past month the responders arrived at the called-in address, only to find the emergency was down the street. The caller had seen that posted address and used it because their house did not have a posted house number. Delays like that could be a matter of life and death.

Every house, local or rental, needs to have their 911 house number posted at the street in front of the house or business. The numbers should be at least 3” in height, be reflective, be posted close to the road, and be easily seen. These house numbers may be purchased from the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department. Information can be found posted at the Post Office and the fire station, or call the fire station at 252-928-4692.

Please help the Ocracoke VFD, the Medical Responders, and the EMTs help you.

The calls for September 15th to October 15th were: Medical Responder – 09, Helicopter Medivacs – 04, and Vehicle Fire 01.
