NCDOT Ferry Division just posted:

Good news, Ocracoke! Today, we will resume limited service on Pamlico Sound, still complying with the visitor restrictions ordered by Hyde County:

NCDOT’s Ferry Division today announced it is resuming service on its Cedar Island-Ocracoke and Swan Quarter-Ocracoke routes, with a limited schedule today followed by the resumption of full scheduled service on Thursday, October 8. Hyde County’s restrictions on visitor access to Ocracoke will also be lifted on Thursday at 7 a.m.

The schedule for Wednesday, October 7 will be:

  • 4:00 p.m. Ocracoke to Cedar Island
  • 5:00 p.m. Swan Quarter to Ocracoke (residents, property owners, vendors, emergency personnel, and utility workers only)

On Thursday, the NC Ferry Division will run the full schedule on both routes. Tolling and reservations will also resume.

The Ferry Division is also preparing to open the Hatteras-Ocracoke route as soon as the roads around the ferry terminals are clear and successful test runs are performed on the ferry route.
