Hit the Open Road!
From Hyde County Emergency management:
Irvin Garrish Highway/NC Highway 12 on Ocracoke Island is now open. Motorists should proceed with caution and drive responsibly given the road conditions. There is approximately six inches of water standing on the roadway near mile marker 78 and extending for approximately one mile.
The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry also resumed operations this morning. Delays and/or cancellations are expected due to high water and electrical issues affecting the boat ramps. Check the NC Ferry Twitter Page for more information or call ahead.
The NCDOT has not reported any road closures on HWY 12, although there is standing water on the road just south of the Bonner Bridge. Travel safe!
