Singing, dancing, and swordfighting pirates woo talented village girls on the eve of Blackbeard's final battle at Ocracoke! If you saw it last year, you need to see it again – there's a new Blackbeard, new pirates and village girls, and even a new song! The show runs Monday nights, July 6 – August 17. Coyote Plus One howls again! This week is a special Plus 3 Ocrachicks show with guests Jamie Tunnell Carter, Sundae Horn (me!), and April Trueblood. We'll be singing many of our favorites from Ocrachicks and Women's Opry shows of yore. Lucky Lou gets to share the stage with 4 women! The show starts at 8pm at the Community Center, and admission is $15 (free for kids under 12.) Not on Ocracoke? The live show will be broadcast on the web at concertwindow.com/coyote (cost = $1). Isn't technology amazing?

I get to put me in the Current Events! I'll be singing with Marcy, Lou, April, and Jamie tomorrow night at Coyote Plus One (Three!)

Super Hero Training! Meet at 10:45 in the library. We will walk over to the gym at 11am for a special super hero training with librarian Allison from the main library in Washington, NC. All are welcome! Ages 0 and up! Wear your super hero best! This is the grand finale event of the Summer Reading Program.

Expose Yourself to Art at Down Creek Gallery! All are welcome to the art opening, 5 – 8pm, with live music by Desiree Ricker, and refreshments, too! Featured artist Barbara Adams will be showing her newest paintings portraying Ocracoke and the natural elements of the Outer Banks and surrounding areas from 5pm-8pm. Barbara says she “tries to paint weekly. There is a beauty in this little village that has always inspired my painting. The people are real, friendly, and capturing small town life with a brush and paint can be a challenge.”

Barbara Adams

Barbara work consists of oils, watercolors, and resin. She has been known to add elements such as raised surfaces and images on wooden boards and canvas, which she then coats in resin to complete the piece. She has built her own frames out of seashells and found objects.

“I enjoy capturing light and shadows which sometimes leads me to new challenges and techniques. With a combination or mixture of impressionism in the background, I attempt to bring out a realist image," she said.

The Ocrafolk Opry is back for its 15th season at Deepwater Theater. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for youngens. Show starts at 8pm; doors open at 7:30pm. Performers this week include, but are not limited to, Molasses Creek, Rob Temple, Philip Howard, and yours truly.
