4th of July Parade Countdown

Ten days left to build the "Better Some Best in Show" float!

The OCBA 4th of July committee would like to encourage everyone to participate in the 2016 4th of July Parade!

We’d like to personally challenge Ocracoke businesses and organizations, as well as our visitors, to make our parade a truly spectacular event!

For Ocracoke non-profits, there’s a Community Prize this year! This $200 prize will go to a local organization that participates in the parade.

Can you sing, dance, juggle, or otherwise amuse the audience? Bring your best game and entertain us! This is a town that loves to dress up, so show us what you've got!

2015 PRIZE CATEGORIES:

There are Cash Prizes in all categories!

Ocracoke Parade Rules:

Please get your entry form turned in by July 2nd. Forms are available at the Post Office, by email request to info@ocracokevillage.com, and here. Please return to parade@wovv.org or WOVV, PO BOX 1447, Ocracoke, NC 27960.

If you just can't get 'er done ahead of time, same-day registration is Noon–3pm on July 4th at Sweet Tooth/Fig Tree Deli. (Please, DON'T TAKE YOUR FORMS TO THE SWEET TOOTH BEFORE THE 4TH. Sorry for the shouting, but we really mean it. Thanks!)

Please be respectful to others and keep in mind that there will be people along the route who may find distasteful language or displays to be ummm... distasteful?

Please no water balloons, water pistols, hoses, etc... Believe it or not, getting soaked isn't funny to most people along the route.

The Sheriff's Department reminds us that open containers of alcoholic beverages are not allowed in a motor vehicle (including golf carts) – if they have to remind you, it gets costly.

Line-up will begin at 3:00pm (New time this year!) – please pick up a number at the Sweet Tooth – Line-up is on Hwy. 12 just beyond Ocracoke Oyster Co.  Fall in behind emergency vehicles and in front of Horses.

Mariah will ride again for Freedom of the Press!
Mariah will ride again for Freedom of the Press!

Parade begins at 4:00pm. (That's an hour later this year, people!)

Judging will be at Island Inn balcony.  Salute , bow, etc... please allow for judges to get a good look and display your number.

Judges (5) are selected as best as possible to be non-biased.  Judges' decisions are final... there is always next year.

Prizes will be awarded at NPS Lifeguard Beach ramp at 7:00pm. (That's also new this year!)

Please do not dismantle your floats in the NPS parking lot.

Entries that have not registered will not be judged but are welcome to join our parade.

Have fun, be safe and respectful.
