Hello, Provincetown III

Hello, Provincetown III

The passenger ferry arrived in Ocracoke this morning on the first leg of its trial run.

It made a short round trip from Hatteras to Ocracoke, leaving only enough time for ferry division officials to enjoy lunch at sMacNally's on a perfect May day. The passage from the south end of Hatteras to Silver Lake harbor on Ocracoke took just 1 hour and 8 minutes. Woo!

All aboard! The Provincetown III will return tomorrow (May 5th), and all are welcome to an Open House on board the boat between 4 – 7pm.

Also tomorrow, a public meeting with the NCDOT ferry division will be held from 5 – 7pm in the Ocracoke School gym.

The Provincetown III carries 149 passengers and is one type of passenger ferry that NCDOT is considering to run passengers from Hatteras to Ocracoke.
