See history being made this week with Ocracoke's 1st ever home baseball game!

Tuesday, March 24th

All are welcome to a Small Business Resource Workshop at 9:30am at the Flying Melon Cafe to learn about state and local resources available to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Lentz Stowe & Justin Rose of Beaufort County Community College will give an overview of business assistance, free services and training available through the NC Small Business Network and BCCC. Come prepared to ask questions and make connections. Bring a morning snack to share, coffee will be provided. Sponsored by Open Source Ocracoke, BCCC, and County of Hyde.

Current Events Week of 3/23/15

Play ball! The Ocracoke Dolphins baseball team will play at 5pm at HOME against the Hatteras Hurricanes on the brand new ballfield at the brand new Ocracoke Community Park. Eight boys (Liam Caswell, Darvin Contreras, Spencer Gaskins, Macky Kalna, Carson O'Neal, Eldon Robinson, Dylan Sutton, and Waylon Underwood), and two girls (Josie Winstead and Brieanna Boos – yay, Title IX!) make up the high school baseball team, which will make Ocracoke history on Tuesday. Go Dolphins!

Current Events Week of 3/23/15

You're invited to the Ocracoke Friends of the Library annual meeting at 7pm at the library! The guest speaker is author Charlie Lovett, who will talk about books and writing and libraries. School librarian Allison O'Neal will be showing off a new collection of picture books for the children's room, which she was able to purchase because of donations from Alton Ballance's Ocracokers fund. There'll be refreshments, too! 

Wednesday, March 25th:

Transformation Zone Pre-School Storytime, 9:30am at Ocracoke Assembly Church classroom. Two, three, and four year-olds are invited to join Leslie Lanier for stories, snacks, crafts, and fun!

Thursday, March 26th:

Ocracoke Preservation Society opens for the season today at 10am. Come out to see all the great new exhibits and fun stuff in the gift shop! You can also buy a raffle ticket for the beautiful new quilt by the Ocracoke Needle and Thread Club.

Friday, March 27th:

Current Events Week of 3/23/15

Student Art Show at Down Creek Gallery, 4 – 6pm. All are welcome to see what the kids have created during the Ocracoke Alive Arts Partnership program at Ocracoke School. Art on display and refreshments, too!

Open House at Roxy's Antiques, 5-8 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy for wine, cheese and yummy hors d'oeuvres and see their new, expanded space!

Quizo! Quizo! Quizo! Come out to Ocracoke School's multi-purpose room for a great night of Quizo, 7 – 9pm. Good times and great prizes! Proceeds benefit the school's academic banquet in May.

There are just a few boxes of Girl Scout cookies left to buy! Yum! If you didn't get a chance to pre-order your cookies from a Girl Scout, you can call Sundae at 921-0283 and she'll hook you up!

Mark your calendars: Ocracoke Child Care is holding a big fundraiser on Saturday, April 4th at the Community Center. It’s a Clam Chowder Cook-Off and everyone can join in the fun! Enter your clam chowder in the traditional (Ocracoke recipe) or non-traditional category, or just come out to taste the entries. Don’t like clams? There’ll be hot dogs and baked goods, too. Music and performances by community members and OCC children will make the Cook-Off a fun and family-friendly event. Check out OCC's new website for registration information!

Later that evening, come out to the Community Center for a Dance with the Ocracoke Rockers! Teresa and Albert will be working the door, shaking you down for donations as you go into shake a leg. There’ll be beer, too – for a donation, of course.
