Hyde County Welcomes William Doerfer NCACC County Management Fellow

Press Release

Hyde County is excited to welcome Will Doerfer to our staff as the county’s inaugural NCACC County Management Fellow.

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) recently approved Hyde County as a host site for the County Management Fellowship Program, which places young professionals in career opportunities under the guidance of seasoned county managers.

Will received his Masters in Public Administration from Appalachian State University, graduating in December 2014 after serving as an intern with a handful of municipalities across the state. As an NCACC County Management Fellow, he will work with a cross section of Hyde County departments to gain an understanding of every part of county government.

According to Manager Bill Rich, “I see Will spearheading critical studies related to revenue and expenditures, such as a study comparing our maintenance and fuel needs to expenses. Will is also going to be incredibly helpful to our departments that have a high workload to staff ratio. We couldn’t be more excited to have him with us.”

On Monday, March 2, 2015 the Hyde County Board of Commissioners approved Will as the Hyde County NCACC Management Fellow. A detailed work plan for his time with the county will be completed over the upcoming months prior to his official start date on July 1, 2015.
