Now Open: Ocracoke Bar and Grille!

Dining diversity is good.

Long-time residents Laurie and Sean Death are the excited owners of Ocracoke's newest restaurant, Ocracoke Bar and Grille! Ocracoke Bar and Grille offers a menu specializing in Mexican fare, sandwiches, and seafood, plus a bar serving beer, wine, and liquor. The surfing-themed restaurant sits right on NC 12, allowing guests to observe village activity and enjoy the fresh air. Guests can either sit completely outside or under the covered bar and larger seating area while enjoying their food and drink.

"We hope this will be an affordable alternative and fun place for the residents," said Sean, "It's good food at a good price."

Ocracoke Bar and Grille will offer seasonally available seafood, caught in the waters surrounding the island.

"We want to support the local watermen," he continued, "and we want to contribute to the community."

Sean also said the staff will be required to know where the seafood was caught and who did the catching.

"We will offer boxes of locally caught clams, which will come with bread and dipping sauces," said Sean.

Sean also said Ocracoke Bar and Grille will host live accoustic music events that will be relaxing and "not too loud." Plus, there's the new technology aimed at making service more efficient. Each table will have a tablet where the entire menu can be accessed. Ingredients and item descriptions will be available too. The staff will use their own tablets to record customer orders and who ordered what meal. Once complete, each choice will instantly be sent back to the kitchen where the kitchen staff can view and prepare the meals. Customers will have the option of going completely paperless. Receipts can be sent via text message or email.

Customers can also place "to-go" orders online at OcracokeBar.com, and there's even a reward program that can be utilized by setting up an account! Sean and Laurie added that meals from other licensed restaurants can be brought into Ocracoke Bar and Grille as long as beverages are purchased in-house. Ocracoke Bar and Grille can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.

Sean and Laurie also manage Ocracoke Station, home of the Beachcomber Campground and the island's only gas station. The couple currently runs birthday specials for locals and residents, and hopes to do more as both businesses flourish. They also donate lunches to the volunteers working on the Ocracoke Community Park.

Come join Sean and Laurie at Ocracoke Bar and Grille from 4-9ish Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings (hours of operation will expand once the season starts)!
