Enjoy the last week of real winter….

It's not that it can't still be cold after February leaves us, but the hibernating that Ocracokers do each year will be pretty much over by the Ides of March…. check out the Current calendar for next month – spring is on its way and businesses are starting to open! We'll keep you posted about who and where and when.

Meanwhile, not much is going on this week, but if we hear of anything, we'll add it to this page….

Monday, February, 23:

CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER: Know Your Park presentation, 7pm at the Community Center: The Fight Against Phragmites Rob Emens, Environmental Specialist for the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources will present a program describing the efforts to stop the spread of Phragmites australis australis, an invasive Eurasian plant species along the coastal shorelines of North Carolina.

We're being invaded. Find out more at the Know Your Park presentation.

Planning ahead: Ocracoke Library Book Club has been revived! The first book they'll read is A Bookman's Tale: A Novel of Obsession by NC native Charlie Lovett. Check it out of the library, or pick up a copy at Books to Be Red (and get a special Book Club 25% discount!) The library's hours are Monday – Friday, 3 – 7pm and Saturday, 9am – 1pm. (Stop by and meet the new community librarian, Mary Bryant) The Book Club will meet on Tuesday, March 17th at 7pm at the library.
