The new year will see changes in Molasses Creek's line-up – and a new album!

Ocracoke's homegrown, hometown band, Molasses Creek, wrapped up their season with great concerts in November and are now looking forward to spending the winter working on new recordings and songs.  They had another busy year of traveling and performing on and off of Ocracoke Island.

Their breaking story is that Marcy Brenner and Lou Castro are retiring from Molasses Creek as of the end of this season to focus on other creative ventures.  We anticipate more great music and writings from them in the future. Lou has been working hard with his 80s dance band, Raygun Ruby, and Marcy has a couple of books in the mill.  They had made the decision earlier this spring, but we all wanted to complete one more season before they headed on down the road!

Gary and Fiddler Dave have started to work on a new recording project to be released this next spring, and Gerald has been busy repairing instruments at his workshop.

Have a happy holiday and stay tuned for more Molasses Creek happenings around the turn of the year!

"Another" metamorphosis? That's right. This isn't the first time that Molasses Creek has grown and changed, added or deleted band members. Luckily for Molasses Creek scholars, the band has compiled their history, which you can find here on the Molasses Creek website. Learn the story of the band from their humble beginnings 22 years ago and their journey all the way to the Prairie Home Companion stage, the Top Five of the national folk music charts, tours around the U.S., founding and headlining the Ocrafolk Festival, and recording twelve albums – with another one on the way!
