NPS to Host Public Meetings on Environmental Assessment Proposal to Facilitate Additional Public Beach Access

Ocracoke's meeting will be Wednesday, July 17th.

Superintendent Barclay Trimble announced plans today to add an additional public meeting to the previously announced schedule of public meetings to provide the basic information and hear questions and comments regarding the National Park Service proposal to provide new access points to facilitate public access in Cape Hatteras National Seashore as included in the Environmental Assessment (EA). 

Public meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Mon., July 15 at the South Wing of Fire Station 16, Town of Nags Head, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • Tues., July 16 on Hatteras Island at the Avon Fire Hall from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
  • Wed., July 17 on Ocracoke Island at the Ocracoke School from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

These open house format meetings will provide an opportunity to view maps and information and interact with park staff who will answer questions.  The general public is invited to attend.
