Kennyfest Starts Tonight!

Ranger Kenny Ballance is retiring from 35 years with the National Park Service. (Read more here.) It's also his birthday.

Both events will be celebrated with a party tonight at Kenny's house. Rumor has it that 700 people are on the island for this shindig (overheard at the Post Office, so it must be true.) (Update: That number might be an exaggeration. Kenny says he's "looking at about 550.") With all those extra visitors, we can not only thank Kenny for a victuals, libations, and righteous dance music, but also for the boon to Ocracoke's economy. 

The Ocracoke Current will send a staff photographer tonight, so stay tuned for pictures!
