Smoke gets in our eyes, as it blows in from the Dad wildfire.

The Island Free Press posted a comprehensive article about the fire here.

Yesterday's alert was for mainland Hyde, but the smoke has drifted as far as Ocracoke and Hatteras.

Expanded Air Quality Alert for Most of mainland Hyde County

 

NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources has expanded the advisory for eastern North Carolina as the Craven County wildfire expands and smoke drifts. Those who are sensitive to air pollution should avoid or reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors in these code purple, red, and orange areas. There is a Code Orange area over most of mainland Hyde County.
