UPDATE: Firemen's Ball was a Blast!
The auctions brought in a total of $20,636 (the silent auction brought in $1981 and the live auction brought in $18,655.)
After paying the bills, we have made $48,494.06 so far. We have a small amount of donations to be turned in. We are awaiting payment from 10 sponsors. We anticipate finishing with approximately $57,000 this year. We are thrilled to have had such a good event. So many people made this a very successful fundraiser and it takes us a step closer to constructing the new building. People from Ocracoke and off the island worked together to make all this happen. Thanks to everyone who became a 2012 sponsor, volunteered their help, donated items to the auctions, bought a meal or an item in the auctions, or came and enjoyed some great music. All of you did a great job! It takes a community to protect a community

The Firemen's Ball is a fun-filled event that raises money for a great cause – Ocracoke's Volunteer Fire Department!
Last year's Firemen's Ball netted over $60,000 in one day! Come on out on the 26th to help make this year just as successful!!
The good times start with food! The pig pickin' pulled pork and BBQ ribs will be served at 5 p.m. Plates are $12. The beer was donated from Budweiser and Natty Greene's (a local NC craft beer.) Donations for the music and beverages are greatly appreciated.
Commemorative t-shirts will be available. This year's shirt has a piratical theme. Arrgh!
While you're enjoying your delicious 'Q, please check out the offerings at the Silent Auction. After dinner, the good times continue with the Live Auction at 7 p.m. with auctioneer Philip Howard.
The organizers have collected some really good auction items this year including local fishing charters; artwork from Ray Matthews, Mary Bassell, and Barbara Adams; decoys from Core Sound, Russell Willams, Eddie O'Neal and David O'Neal; lots of restaurant gift certificates; and massages from Laura Hardy and Amy Hilton.
They're still accepting auction items – please call Steph Ihle at 928-7001 if you have something to donate.
The dancing starts at 8:30 with the Aaron Caswell Band, continues with the Ocracoke Rockers, and rocks the house 'til the end with the Dune Dogs.
This event would not be possible without all the loyal sponsors who've supported it over the years. A big shout out goes to The Variety Store and Jolly Roger Pub and Marina for stepping up to be the first two Diamond sponsors.
