Police Blotter 4/3/2012

Last week was "a great week," with no crime to report on Ocracoke.

"I hope the upcoming week is as quiet as this one," said Sergeant Jason Daniels of the Ocracoke Sheriff's Department.

One thing that wasn't quiet were the helicopters hovering over the island early in the week.  Rest assured, it is not an elaborate surveillance operation.  They have nothing to do with us, said Daniels.  The choppers are on training exercise from Eastern NC military bases.  Osprey crews in particular seem to like visiting the island and cruising the beach.

Daniels served in Swan Quarter last week.  "Court on Wednesday was a waste of taxpayers dollars.  You can put that in there," he said.
