OVFD Building Update

Press Release
OVFD Building Update

The OFPA board and members of the building committee met this winter.

This group determined that the current plans drafted by Linda Ihle of Linda Ihle Design & Drafting LLC of Kill Devil Hills, NC were ready to be sent to an architect.  An interview was held with Jimmy Hite of Greenville, NC to see if his architectural firm, Hite Associates, could provide OFPA with the services needed to get the final plans drawn.  After further discussion, it was determined that Mr. Hite’s firm would provide OFPA with the required services of an architectural firm at a reasonable cost.

We are now waiting for a final set of plans to be drawn.  With plans in hand, we can then establish the approximate construction cost of the new building.  This will allow us to determine how to proceed in securing the necessary money to move forward with this much needed project for the Ocracoke community.

In the meantime, Mike Johnson and Ernie Doshier spent hours leveling the sand on the building site.  The sand will be seeded in hopes of preventing further erosion due to the constant blowing of the wind.
