Ocracoke's Book Club

Ocracoke's Book Club

If you’re looking for some intellectual stimulation this winter,

consider joining the new Ocracoke Book Club at the library. This month’s meeting is Thursday, February 9 at 6:30 to discuss The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski.

Founded by Tosha Collins and Carolyn Wynn (who work together at Ocracoke Health Center), the Book Club has been going strong since last November. So far, the participants have read Sunset Park by Paul Auster, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, and The Cat’s Table by Michael Ondaatje.

Librarian Ingeborg Frye gets as many loaner copies as she can for Book Club members; Ocracoke’s own independent bookstore, Books to Be Red, offers Book Club selections at a 30% discount.

The group posts updates on their Facebook page: Ocracoke BookClub.
