Hyde County COVID Update

As of today, Hyde County is reporting a total case count of 114.

Of this total, 31 are active cases, 80 have recovered, and 3 are deaths. 

Please remember, the Health Department tests anyone who suspects they are sick with COVID-19 or has been in contact with someone who has the virus. We also test those who request testing even without symptoms. There are no out of pocket fees to individuals, but we do ask if you have insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, you bring your card with you for testing. We also ask that you call for an appointment as we do not see walk in clients.

To date, 34.5% of cases are people in the 25-49 age group; 59% are female; 73% are white; and 69% have NOT been hospitalized. People with comorbidities make up 31% of cases, which is largely represented by cardiovascular disease at 24%. Of the 114 cases, 51 have lived in a congregate living setting. August was the largest testing month to date, with 467 individuals obtaining a test at one of the Hyde County facilities - Health Department, Engelhard Medical Center, Ocracoke Medical Center, plus two drive up events, one on the mainland, and one on Ocracoke.
