Feedback sought on preliminary concept plans for new construction.

Hyde County Schools Superintendent Steve Basnight and Ben Cahoon from the architect and engineering firm of Cahoon and Kasten, will be on Ocracoke Island on Thursday, May 28th from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm to meet with the public and answer any of your questions.

If the weather permits they will set up on the covered porch at the school circle to meet with up to 23 people at once. As a back-up plan if the weather is not good, they will be in the Community Center and able to meet with up to 8 people at a time. Please stop by and share your ideas!

The "extreme" preliminary/beginning/DRAFT concept plans for the new construction on the Ocracoke School Campus are viewable here.

None of these plans have been approved by the Board of Education. Included are floor plan drawings and photographs of the original school and original Coast Guard Station tower that, combined, would resemble the exterior of the new buildings. This building would be constructed between the elementary building and gym.

Please take the online survey to provide the administration with your ideas and feedback as they move forward in designing the new classroom and administrative areas of Ocracoke School.
