Both churches will come together on Sunday, November 24th with a service of Thanksgiving and a meal for the community.
On Thanksgiving Day, (Thursday, November 28) Ocracoke Disaster Relief, Liberty Christian Fellowship, and John's Drive-In are joining together to host a Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Berkley Barn. It's a potluck! If you are able, and choose to, we'd love to have your favorite side dishes or desserts to add to the cornucopia of food that will be provided. Our committee (with lots of help) will provide ham, turkey, stuffing, etc. If you'd like to volunteer to help that day with set-up, serving, or clean-up, please contact Sundae Horn (me) at 252-921-0283. Even if visitors are here, we will go forward with our community Thanksgiving for Ocracoke residents and their guests, and our volunteer crews.
The annual Holiday Boat Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 30th from 5:30–6:30pm. View the boats from the new dock at the Community Square. All boats are welcome to enter -- light 'em up and cruise around the harbor! Hot drinks and sweet treats will be served at the dock!
The annual UMW Christmas Dinner will be Tuesday, December 3rd at the Community Center, 6pm. All the women in the community are invited to join the potluck. It's one of the loveliest evenings of the year! Please come and bring your favorite dish and a small gift to exchange. Donations welcome for one of the many special causes supported by the UMW.
Santa visits the Variety Store on Thursday, December 5th! Come out and get your picture taken on Santa's knee! 3–5pm – Santa's even bringing his sleigh this year! Photos are a gift from the Variety Store.
The Latino Fiesta that was planned for November was postponed due to weather. So we'll celebrate on Saturday, December 7th at the Community Center! Music, dance, and food = Fiesta!
The annual Friends of the Library Cookie Swap will be held at the Community Center on Sunday, December 8th at 2pm. Bring a dozen or more cookies to share; take home the same amount of assorted goodies! Yum!
The following week brings us a special treat on Tuesday, December 10th with the OPS Wassail Party and Community Tree Lighting. 4–6pm at the OPS Museum. OPS will draw the winning ticket for the 2019 Quilt Raffle! Shop at the Museum gift shop for great holiday gifts. FREE and festive!
NOTE DATE CHANGE: This year, Ocracoke School's annual holiday program and the Community Christmas Concert will be combined into one wonderful holiday extravaganza! On Sunday, December 15th at 5pm, join us at the Berkley Barn for a merry & bright Holiday Dinner Show! The Ocracoke Strong kitchen crew, with help from Ocracoke students, will provide a sit-down dinner while performers of all ages share songs and stories of holiday cheer. All are welcome!
The Ocracoke Lifesaving Church will host the Christmas Eve service this year. Details TBA, but expect to sing carols and see a kids' pageant.
